Becoming a Member
We are always looking for people interested in joining our organization. Most people choose to attend their first meeting simply as a guest, just to check it out. We welcome you to join us at our next meeting to learn more!
Who Can Join?
We invite anybody interested in learning to improve their public speaking, communication, and leadership skills to join. To get the best and fullest experience, we strongly encourage members to eventually participate in a leadership role and make a significant contribution to yourself and our organization.
Benefits of Joining
The benefits of joining Toastmasters usually appear more quickly than you expect. Many of our members cite real and lasting benefit after only their first two minute ice-breaker speech. On a personal level, you will improve your communication, listening and leadership skills, which will translate into more confidence and a better quality of life overall. Because so much of life relies on communication, Toastmasters is a great way jump ahead.
How Can You Join?
Visit a club meeting to find out what we're all about. Once you decide to join, we'll request a completed application and membership dues for the first six months. Contact our VP of Membership for more information and a new member's packet. Play a Variety of Roles At each meeting we have a Toastmaster, Grammarian, Timer, Table Topics Master, Table Topics Speakers, Prepared Speakers, General Evaluator and Speech Evaluators. Members are encouraged to deliver speeches at regular intervals (every 1-2 months), but members are allowed to set their own pace at their discretion. Regardless if you are a guest or regular member, you will have a chance to play some type of role and gain experience in front of an audience. At University City Toastmasters, you'll have a lot of fun as you learn and grow into speaking in a public setting.
