University City Toastmasters Club
Chartered in June 2002, University City Toastmasters began as a small group of ambitious people who wanted to meet regularly to practice and learn to become more competent and comfortable speaking in front of an audience. Today, University City Toastmasters continues the tradition of providing motivated people a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where members and guests alike have the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities through club meetings, training seminars and speech contests. The University City Club is a thriving local chapter of Toastmasters International and serves approximately thirty members in the Charlotte, NC area.

At any Toastmasters Club meeting, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical University City Toastmasters club meeting is comprised of about 15 to 20 people who meet for roughly an hour. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation. Awards are presented to the best speakers of every meeting.
